Into The Blue
US Air Force Thunderbird 5 “Solo” passes Show Center. The Number 5 is stenciled inverted on the engine inlet of this aircraft because the “Solo” pilot is often performing the maneuvers up-side-down during the show. As a side note: This F-16C has a special fuel pump installed in the top of one of the fuel tanks that allows the aircraft to maintain positive fuel flow while flying inverted. Otherwise they would only be able fly inverted for about 10 seconds before starving the engine of fuel.
